Therapy Style & Education

Approach:

I currently have interests in Mindfulness Practice, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, principles of Environmental Psychology, and Motivational Interviewing. These interests continue to expand as I learn and grow with my clients.

Therapy Style:

My therapy style is rooted in the theoretical frameworks of One Health and Healing-Centered Engagement. I believe that connection, trust, and safety are essential in the therapeutic relationship. I strive to be inclusive, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client-centered so that we
can focus on building meaningful, equitable relationships and sustainable wellness.

I do not have a specific area that I consider a specialty. I have a special interest in working with children, adolescents, and LGBTQIA2S+ youth. However, I am very open to working with children 6+ years of age, adolescents, adults and couples from varied backgrounds who are seeking
connection, healing, and wellness.

Education:

I received my One Health Masters with a Community Advocacy concentration from University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2023, focusing on the application of the One Health framework and Indigenous ways of healing in mental and community wellness. I continued on to receive my Master of Social Work with a Clinical concentration from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2025. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of Alaska, and I am also a Licensed Graduate Social Worker in the state of Minnesota.

Personal

My mid-life career change and reentry into higher education led me down a path filled with intense self-growth, self-evaluation, and critical consideration of my goals and future. This culminated in the decision to focus on using the privilege of my education and resources to help fellow humans on their journeys toward mental and emotional health and wellness. I engaged with vulnerable populations, most recently focusing on advocacy, support, and program development for those who have experienced violence. It is a humbling gift to be a part of the healing process.

What are your interests outside of work?

When I am not working, I try to enjoy the beauty and energy of Fairbanks with my little furry family. I enjoy being in nature, appreciating art and music, cooking Indian food, gardening, and constantly learning about the world. I am also a recently certified Reiki I and II (Usai/Holy Fire III Reiki Ryoho) practitioner.
