Therapy Style & Education

Therapy Style:

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alaska. I emphasize cultural humility and respect for my client’s experiences. My style is person- centered and strengths-based. I listen to you share what is and isn’t working in your life and we work together to build a plan to use your strengths to solve problems and achieve meaningful goals. In sessions, we will create an understanding of how you think about yourself, the world and others, and how these fundamental views shape your decisions and actions. I work with you to build your toolbox of skills to handle strong emotions, cope positively with stress, solve problems, and increase effectiveness in your interactions with other people. I am LGBTQIA2S+ affirming.

Specialty:

I specialize in treating PTSD and have training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Brainspotting. I also work with Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, grief and loss, and complex trauma (multiple traumatic events over the lifespan). My past work includes community mental health and outpatient substance use treatment settings.

Approach:

I draw from a variety of modalities depending on the client’s needs, including  Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, CPT, Brainspotting, Motivational Interviewing, and Universal Protocol.

Education:

I received my B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Clinical Psychology in 2022 from the University of Alaska, Anchorage.

Get To Know Jasmine

Personal

I became interested in psychology during my undergraduate education after  taking a class on the science of learning and behavior. I saw how I could apply this knowledge in to make my own life more intentional and peaceful. I am passionate about working with people as they find their power, heal, and take values based action towards the things they really care about.

I like to backpack, bike, and ski. I also enjoy good coffee with good friends or a good book.
